Indian Creek .665 choke for buckshot (Deer)

There's pretty good consensus that Carlson Coyote type chokes give great patterns with Buckshot and allow hunters to greatly extend their range. The Coyote choke is .660-.663 constriction. It's also known as a good turkey choke.

That got me thinking, why can't I use my Indian Creek .665 choke with 00 Buck for deer hunting? Is it safe to do and I assume (expect) better patterns then my improve cylinder choke if I wanted to extend my range using buckshot, no?

I don't think you will damage your gun or choke shooting buckshot thru it, but my gut is that you would be way over choked with 00 buck thru a .665.

If you don't want to buy an additional choke, I would suggest you try Federal Premium WITH Flight Contol Wad out of you improved cylinder choke.  Your best bet would be to buy a choke optimized for buckshot.  I have had great success with Comp-n-Choke Deer choke.  They have two different choke constrictions depending on what size buckshot you shoot.  If you select this choke, try the Federal Premiums WITHOUT the Flight Control Wad.

.665 is way too tight for 00 buck. Pure Gold makes an awesome buckshot choke with a .696 exit diameter. Mine worked great out of a Beretta Xtrema with a .733 bore diameter.

Won't hurt the choke. Too tight for optimal patterns with buckshot.

Better than cylinder/ improved cylinder?  Yes.

Anything in the 690- 700 range would be much better.
