Got a chance to run some loads through the 870 youth 20 yesterday afternoon. I spent an hour polishing the barrel before I did anything. First shot I checked the POI with a Superpheasant 6 lead load @ 20. It looked good. Next I ran a Fed 1.5 oz Hvy 7 @ 40 and got 110 in the 10" circle. Next shot 135 with the same load. Next shot I ran a Hevi-13 1.25oz 7 and got 156. I'm with Smokey on this one, the 870/Sumtoy combo seems to shoot better dirty. When this rig gets broke in I expect the numbers to go up some more. The 20" patterns were pretty even, the Fed looked better than the Hevi in the 20" circle but the Hevi is better in the 10".  Temp was 80 degrees. If I get a chance I'm gonna run some more through it this week just to see what happens. Thanks for the choke William.

OK you guys are killing me with these SumToy chokes!!!! I'VE GOT TO HAVE ONE!  I have spent so much money on chokes....here is my delima.

I plan on handloading shells for the 20 ga next year.  Will the choke make a huge difference, especially since I already have a Jellyhead .570, RSF .570 and a SSX .550?

I just got this gun set up last week and the SumToy is the only choke I've fired a shot through. If I have time after work, I will run a Fed 7 through the Sumtoy and one through the RSF back to back and see what happens.

The 20 gauge I have now shoots about the same regardless of what I run through it.  It even shoots chokes about the same.  One may be 10 shot more than the other but not much.

I have a brand new 20 ga that is a gift for my daughter that I have not shot yet.  It will be interesting to see how it shoots compared to the older 870 20 ga youth model.  Nice Patterns by the way!

I saw that gun in the thread you started. It looks nice.

Gophert, I just shot one round each through the RSF and Sumtoy. 82 degrees 8mph crosswind. Sumtoy-123.......RSF-104. I took some pics and will post them later.

I definitely like the Sumtoy a little better.  Those 20 or so extra pellets really give it an even pattern.  My gun really liked the RSF...it put 132 with the Fed #7's.  Decisions Decisions????   Thanks for the info.  Oh, one more question to keep from having to do a search.  Is the sumtoy ported?  Thanks!

S.C.C

.562 SumToy is non ported has wad catchers and straight rifled.Heavy duty and built tough! :smiley-patriotic-flagwaver-an

After using this choke and the Fed.7's in the 21" on my last gobbler at 45yards and puttin him down
hard just like a 12ga. 3.5 or 10ga. I don't believe a man can shoot a better combo with any other
factory shells out of the 20ga. to 50yards maybe even 55yards!! :z-guntootsmiley:

I've got a few Hevi 7 1.25 oz loads left that I might run at paper if the wind dies down this afternoon. I'm anxious to see if they will hold in the 150's like the one I shot the other day.

can you guys post a few pics of the sumtoy chokes, would like to see what they look like. Thanks!

Shot one round of Hevi 1.25oz 7's just to see if it would put up 150 again. It did. I printed out the target Slicky put on here but the circle printed a little smaller than 9.75" on an 11 X 17 sheet for me. I opened up the circle to 10" centered around my POA and got 140 hits. Shifted over to the dense part of the pattern I came up with 151. Probably could have run closer to 160 if I had moved the circle up and to the left a little more. Didn't see it until after I started drawing the circle. Anybody want to swap some Hevi 7's for Fed 7's? I have 4 boxes of the 1.5 oz Federals that need to go.
