Heavyweight 10 pack... A Good Find?

Spring Creek Calls

I found this 10 pack of Heavyweight #6's in the goose loads at a gun shop near me. At $26.99 it seemed like a good deal, if I can get them to pattern. No bulging or buffer loss was apparent in the box. Along with the rebates, could be quite a find. I recently traded one of my box calls for a high end non-ported tube for my 1300. We'll see how they do when the snow goes away.

I have shot some of the 6's and allot of the 7's in that load. I have shot the best patterns with non ported chokes like Hastings .665. Shot 7's in 20 gauge through a Hevi 13 choke with great results. Not that it matters but that is a turkey strutting on the box behind the price tag. :icon_thumright:

They were definitely misplaced, probably why they were still there.  I could see how it happened as the only other heavyweights they had were goose loads in BB and 2's and were separated from the turkey loads. The sticker over the turkey helped also.

Never Misses

Gobble!

Good find! Now put the stock super full choke in your gun and see how she shoots. Those flight control wads can be real puzzle to figure out.

I have a factory x-full and a non-ported .660 Wright's. We'll see if either works. Those Heavyweight 6's must deliver a devastating whallop if the pattern holds up.

Great find! Those shells will lay the smack down on a turkey. I've been impressed with knockdown power of the 7's. Those 6's are serious with a consistent pattern. I wouldn't  worry much about numbers with those 6's just as long as you find a good consistent coverage pattern.

I agree on the numbers thing, i know I'm not going to get Longbeard (220's) numbers. My 20 with HWT 7's and RSF gets in the 130's, so if can get 140-160 with 6's and an even spread I'd be satisfied.
