I hate the sling set up on the pistol grip and was looking for some suggestions or ideas from others. I was thinking of just tapping a hole and adding a sling stud like a regular gun has, any thoughts would be appreciated.

Tap it and add a sling that way. That's what I did and it took 10mins to do

Easy to do. Get some 550 paracord and Google cobra weave. And you don't have to drill your stock.

Ok I was looking at getting a pistol grip for mine and wonder about the sling set up. Is it a hassle? I guess is it worth spending the $150 for the new stock?

Looks good Rusty, but it's gonna scratch the heck
Out of ur stock.
Just drill and install standard sling stud.
I couldn't stand that side mount crap.
Only comfortable on one shoulder.
It's junk IMO

As others have said, I'd go with drilling the stock for a sling stud.  Just be sure to use the machine threaded stud instead of the larger wood threaded stud to insure you don't crack the stock during install.  I've done this on mine and it worked out great, took all of ten minutes to do...

It possibly could scratch the stock over time I guess but when I carry it the swivel doesn't touch the stock. There's nothing touching to scratch the stock. I can carry on either shoulder with no problem also. Don't get me wrong, I don't like the sling mount on the side either but I can't drill a hole in a $160 stock. JMHO
