Just curious what shot size everyone used. I almost always use # 4's but sometimes 5's if I can find them.

Also, My grandpa used to reload his own shells. He passed many years ago, but I found some a 3 or 4 years back in which he had loaded 4's 5's and 6's all in the same shell. They actually shot a pretty nice pattern out of his old double barrel. Does anyone know if you can buy shells like that or do you have to have someone specially make them for you? I have never seen them in stores before. Maybe a stupid question but I thought this would be the place to ask it.

No stupid questions here.

I shoot hand loaded TSS (tungsten super shot) which is much more dense than lead, and shoot #8s.

For shooting lead I would choose #6's.  These have plenty of energy to kill to 50 yds.  The 6's give many more pellets per load than 5's and especially 4's.  To me shooting #4 handicaps you and your killing efficiency.

HeviShot makes a blended shell, 5x6x7 called Magnum Blends.  Lots of guys shoot them and are pleased.

You are going to get lots of good advice.

Remington makes or made a load called "Duplexs". They are exactly what your talking about. The Nitro Ammo company also loads "Duplex" shells, As does Hevi Shot "Magnum Blends". The Remington load is the cheapest, but Also wont put up half the numbers as the other loads. Hope this is what you were looking for.
