I cut the thumb & finger tips off of my first two fingers of my left glove.
Right glove gets the first fingers cut completely off & the thumb half way.
Sometimes I'll wear a mesh glove on my right hand depending on the weather...
Burnt cork, a lighter, & baby wipes are always in my vest...

Gloves muffle the sound. I take my gloves off to make a call on my trumpet, then put them back on.
