DSD Jake dimensions and weight?

Hello,

I made an impulse purchase of the Dakota Best Turkey Decoy Extreme Jake after a couple of skilled hunters I know swore by them.  The difference between us is that they are bow hunters and hunt out of blinds.  I'm a mobile hunter and do lots of run and gunning.  I want everything in my vest, including 2 decoys.  I ordered the Dakota online and am pretty surprised by the size.  The more I'm thinking about trying to fit it in my vest and carrying the bulky thing around, the more I'm thinking I likely won't use it.  I'll probably just set it aside for when I participate as a mentor in youth hunts where I will be dragging out my blind.  I do like the idea of a decoy that sets up quickly and is more realistic.  There's no doubt many of you swear by the DSD.  However, I'm really wondering if I'd be heading down the same exact path if I purchased one.  Could someone give me an idea of the dimensions?  And how about weight?

Thanks!

I'm not sure on the weight, but the Dakota jake is the EXACT same size as the DSD - down to the dimensions between body lines and everything - because I'm pretty sure it was copied with a 3D laser CNC machine.

I bet the difference between them in minimal at best. I can measure mine tonight. I carry my DSD in the carry bag.

The difference is that the DSD is the color of the jake and the Dakota is the color of a hen

If I am on the go run-n-gun hunting then the dekes stay at the truck most of the time but if I am going to a spot that I plan on sitting for quite a while or bowhunting from the blind then the dekes go.

So what I think your saying and I totally agree is that a so called artist took that copied block of wood from the guy he had CNC or laser copy it and made a few changes in feather detail and slightly gave a degree different tilt of the head.
Once he got that it was finding a scum bag company that sent it to China to mass produce it.
I think I will just stick with the real deal that's made here in the USA......DSD decoys.........original artistry......most anatomically correct.....color correct......enough said.

I wont use a dsd decoy. they are too realistic. i don't want to wake up from a nap and, well ya know! :newmascot: :smiley-patriotic-flagwaver-ana   made in the USA. i like that.

Not that I doubted anyone above, but I got a response from DSD's support and others may be interested.

Length 31" from the tip of the beak to the tail, 12" high from the bottom of the decoy to the tallest part of his body, 11" wide on the widest part of his body

I think you and I are onto something  ;D

Funny how all the pictures on their website of the carving process are of them putting the final feather detail on.. Nothing of the beginning of the process.

Not to mention, I have pictures of the owner of the company posing with a DSD, but a Dakota jake photoshopped into the photo instead.
