I chatted with owlhoot on this forum the other day and he is putting 190 pellets in a 10" circle @ 40 yards with this setup in his 1187 w/21" barrel.  I'm gonna try it this weekend.  Has anyone else shot this combination??

Federal does not recommend shooting HW's through a ported choke ! I split a choke doing it !

what kind of patterns did you get with the trulock??
160 in the 10" @ 40 yards was my best with most patterns averaging 135-140.

I realize that Rick but I've read where other guys have shot the HW 7's thru Kicks Gobblin'Thunder chokes with no ill effects.  And besides, if Federal really new anything about their HW loads, they could corner the market by ditching the flight control wad and using a regular wad.  Owlhoot even told me that during his patterning with the Hevi-13 choke that the HW 7 wad travelled almost to the target at 40 yards.

I'm just relaying what the Techs @ Federal told me. I'm pretty sure they have more knowlege than we do !  ::)

Did you split an indian creek or what brand?

The hevi-choke looks well made in the slot area , not thin.

Clark has said his SSX works great and it is ported.

I have Carlsons in .660 or .640, un-ported i can use. Both did 140-150 in the 26" barrel.
Which is actually enough in the 10" for me , I shoot em close.
I can try them in the 21".
Thanks for the heads up.

I sold an Indian Creek choke and purchased a Rhino that split after 2 shots. It was immediately replaced by Rhino. We all need to check our tubes for damage regular and realize we are shooting shot and constrictions that the gun companies don't stand behind in most cases. These are thin wall barreled guns. Checking my tube after a shot is cheap compared to $505 for a new barrel, more or less for some, still a few hundred.

Well, I patterned the 3 inch Federal HW 7's thru my Remmy 1187/Hevi-13 .662 combo this afternoon in 60 degree temps and the best I could get was 120 in the 10" @ 40 yards.  Looks like I'm gonna stick with the Trulock HW tube.

That's right you had said that somewhere.
140's out of three chokes in my 870 Sm 26" barrel last year. Hevichoke, Carlsons .660 and .640
190's out of Same hevichoke in my 870 21" barrel gun.
Shells just bought this year. Lots ??
