I apologize if this has been discussed before, but it is hard to search for the springy kind of spring when Spring gobbler season looms.  My question:  aside from on line (with very high shipping), where can I procure the 3/8" springs needed to make my own box call?  Nothing at lowes today.  Thanks for any info.

Cant beat Jerry's springs and if your going to Nashville he will have some there in his booth.

Jerry is hard to beat! His Spring are however 1/2", which is what most guys use.

Yes Dad White has them 1/2".

So I found some springs at ACE hardware.  Can someone give me an idea of how long a spring should be cut?  I am guessing that this depends on the thickness of the material and that I will end up doing a little trial and error.  However, a head start cannot hurt.  Thanks for any info.

The conical springs used for bicycle quick release skewers work great too.

You probably need around an inch long spring. Main thing is you don't want those really stiff springs.
