Are there any turkey hunting opportunities for an out of stater near angel fire? I have relatives near there and would like to schedule a trip but I know nothing about the area. I've heard Merriams are up in the mountains so it would be awesome to get one this spring.

When elk hunting near there a few years back, I spooked a small flock of Merriams turkeys. They sailed-off into a wide, deep canyon, never to be seen again  !

I'm guessing it's all government land open to the public around there. I will have to do some research on licenses and the hunting area.
