what causes silent birds???

the main piece of property i hunt has a decent turkey population. i have been out several morning before daylight and also several afternoons. i have yet to hear a single gobble.
today i set up and did a few calls and within minute a coyote came running in.
I'm am wondering if these a re connected? are the birds quiet because they are avoiding a predator population?

turkeys aren't hard to kill....they're hard to kill legally.

200racing,
I don't know if there is connection between predator pressure and gobbling.
I except they will start gobbling later. They can't breed if they don't gobble.
