Ready for 2015 turkey season

I had took lunch yesterday and as I was on my way back to the job site, I must have seen close to 30 turkey's cross the road in front of me. So I slowed down and got to see at least one nice gobbler majority was hens but it still got my blood to flowing and my heart pumping. I hope everybody else is starting to get the itch. To be honest I started looking forward to it on the last day of last turkey season .

Can't speak for everyone but I'm sure we're all anxiously awaiting the start of our Turkey seasons.

Walkerz07.....I can't wait!!  Lord knows I don't want to wish my life away...but I can't wait to be out early listening to God wake the spring woods!!!  Then hear that thundering gobble I never get tired of hearing that feeds my uncontrollable addiction! Am I ready.....OH YA!

I just recently told myself that I wasn't going to get worked up over turkey season until February or so.  I just finished elk hunting and I've still got a few weeks of bird season, and I need to get back into remodel mode instead of fretting about how much time I can take off and where I can afford to travel to. 

So much for all that.  I traveled to a job site here in MT a few days ago and saw turkeys before the job site and turkeys while on the job site.  They were all hens and were definitely in winter mode scratching through the snow, but I made notes on where they were since I hunted just down the road from there a few days back in the spring.  I also just went through the regs for several states today and looked at season dates and tag prices.  I'm sure I'll start in MT then end up in IL for a week.  I hope I can work out at least one more state between MT and IL.

You are 100% right...I used to deer hunt just to have something to do till turkey season. Now I've quit deer hunting!

Walkerz07, it surprises me that you even saw a gobbler in the bunch this time of year, unless it was a jake. I'd figure all the gobblers would be hanging out together.

Hr. Mark, turkeys are changing, just like global climate is changing. Most of the weather records, which have been set for winter weather; happen many years ago. In correlation to changing weather, a gobbler with a grope of hens and young of the year; is like fruit trees blooming in the fall; instead of the spring. We have just a cold snap, then followed by many days of warm weather, which confuse's wildlife just like trees. This is not the norm of course.

Then of course, the "genes" of today's wild-turkeys have changed too, from the wild turkeys that I wrote about in my Native Turkey book. Today's wild turkeys are becoming more and more like domestic turkeys in their appearance and habits.
