Nice to meet y'all this is my first post. I was wanderin if any of y'all have rigged up one of these 20 gauges as a short little throw around gun. And if so, what chokes, load, and can you fit a saddle mount for a red dot?   Preciate any comments, thank ya

They're well made guns, basically a copy of the 870.They take the winchoke system so a good place to start would be a primos tightwad choke and Federal HW #7s or Hevi Shot 6s or 7s. That should turn it into a turkey killer for sure. That said those guns are very heavy and would be my last choice for a 20 ga turkey gun. But if you already own it, set it up and go kill turkeys with it. No turkey ive ever killed asked how heavy my gun was.lol

I appreciate the replies.  And no sir, I don't have one yet.  I'm tryin to figure out what to get.  I want a short, easy to move, don't give a crap about lil thumper.  Prolly put a light weight sling and some Williams or true glo fiber optics and be done.   Any ideas would be great. Thanks!

Have you thought about a single shot, I fixed one up to hunt with this year and I love it, my dad my dad used it this year as well and now he is thinking about getting one also because they are so light and easy to move around. I hope this helps.

ya know, I have thought about it.    I killed my first bird with a 20 last week and now I got the bug badddddly lol.  That 20 is just to dang pretty to carry very much though.   I'm wanting to get one this week.  I guess I may be impatient idk.  But if I were to get a single shot, I would want one with screw in chokes.  Anybody know if they make a single that's semi reasonable?  Like 500 or under?    I just don't want a long wait for a barrel to e shipped back and threaded etc..   Replies are much appreciated.   Btw, what all did you do to you're 20?

The H&R would make a great turkey gun,the only down side is the weight, they are heavy for a 20ga,but other than that they are well made shotguns and usually carry a affordable price tag on them.
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

I sent the barrel to William at sumtoy and he threaded the barrel for screw in choke, made a turkey choke for It. he also drilled and taped the barrel and put a scope rail on, I put a ati adjustable stock and put a burris ff3 on it.

The H&R single shot 20 gauges are not heavy at all, they just weigh 5 1/2 pounds, the only ones that are heavy are the 10 and 12 gauges with screw in chokes. H&R makes a 20 gauge single shot turkey edition with fixed full choke, that gun with the federal heavyweights #7's will be a great turkey gun, IMO a single shot is the only was to go, i use a single shot for everything, except for turkeys this year i used my brothers gun because i sold my turkey gun, lol
