I left home at 3:15 to drive an 1 1/2 hours to my hunting ground.  I knew this gobbler was in the area and had him close enough a few days ago to hear his wings dragging in the leaves but couldn't see him enough to get a clean shot.  This gobbler hung out on the side of a ridge that was nearly verticle.  He wouldn't come to the top of the ridge or come to the bottom of the hollow no matter how much you called.  Just stayed on the side of that ridge strutting and gobbling.

I get to the top of the ridge right at daylight to listen for him to gobble.  Nothing.  About 30mins after daylight he sounds off on the side of the ridge.  I get set up and give him some yelps and he cuts me off immediately. A few minutes later he gobbles again and  has cut the distance in 1/2. I give him some soft yelps with a few clucks and he goes crazy with is gobbling. After the gobbling frenzy he goes silent and I knew he was coming.  The next sound I hear is him drumming coming up the side of the ridge.  When he gets to 15yds I hit him with a load of magblends.  He immediately flips over backwards and rolls all the way down the ridge.  After a 30-40min exhausting recovery I had him back on top of the ridge. Took longer to get up back up the ridge than it did to kill him. :TooFunny:   9inch beard  1 inch spurs
