I was able to get my bird last Tuesday morning. I went to a new property and set up along a field edge with a creek bottom and large ridge behind me. It got daylight and the tom sounded off. He was above and little behind me.
He ended up pitching down up the ridge, I called and he answered several times and an hour or later I decided to go get him. I slipped down the creek bottom and made my way up the to the top of the ridge. By this time, he's at the other end of the ridge and still calling back to my mouth calls.
I sat for another hour or so and decide to make something happen. I made an aggressive mouth call and he answered but now he was in the bottom where I had started LOL. I guess we traded places! I snoke up to the ridge to look over to see if I could see him. I then decided I'd start down the ridge.
I guess he decided to come up because we met in the middle LOL.
He got a face full of the Longbeards 3" #5's at 15yrds!! He rolled back down and was done!
21lbs, 10"beard and a 26mm and a 25mm spur!
I guess I won the "Cat and Mouse"game!!
Pic's won't upload for some reason!

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.
