Such a personnel question with no correct answer. Since you are not in a rush you really need to go out and hold every gun in your price range and see what feels good to you. What one guy may love the next guy hates. I mean all the suggestions so far are quality firearms you dont need to worry that you are buying junk. Go shoulder them.

My first choice would be an 870 supermag.   My second choice would be a Mossberg 835.

all suggestions are great i have an x2 which is a good gun and turkey hunt with it all the time. wish i had went the 20ga route. 12ga a little heavy if you have to hold on for a long period of time. i won a CZ 712 which i took to corpus christi tx. and left at my friends house so when i go hunting i dont have to carry a gun and so far no problems or rust and have hunted with it down there 2yrs in the salt air. have thought about the sa-08 in 20 gauge.

Remington 1187 mossyoak camo, 26inch barrel and is the best all around shotgun ive ever had, never had any problems and never let me down! Kicks Gobbling thunder for turkey, and kicks high flyer for ducks!

870 SM or mossy 835 can't go wrong with the old reliables

870 supermag or moss 835.  Good guns and good prices.  Use money saved by not getting a beretta for tags and shells!

Not your price range , but a heck of a value if your looking for a top quality auto -- 847$ remington versamax -- shoots any 2.75-3.5 load and is a softest kicking auto I have ever owned or shot , ultra reliable too

If I were to own just one gun to cover everything , it would be a versamax , I've owned 870s , 1187s, novas, shot sbe, sbe2s -- and out of all of those I would choose the versa max hands down -- American made too

One of the best guns I have ever shot was the Browning BPS stalker 12ga when it came to turkey hunting. I had it ported, forcing cone lengthen and it was a turkey killing machine. Now it would flat knock your socks off with 3" and kick like a mule with 3.5 but for a turkey gun it was the best I have ever owned. Let a guy buy it from me that was a die hard duck hunter and have regretted selling it ever since. I have since hunted with a Franchi 612 and moved up to a xtrema 2 and I don't think neither have come close to the patterns that browning threw. Or I should say I have not found the pattern yet. I am getting the xtrema 2 close but it has cost a few dollars with chokes and shells. If you can find a good browning BPS don't be scared to buy it. Rick
