Longbeards - high/right on 2 different guns

Not sure where to post this, so I'll lob it out to the general forum.

So, I picked up some LB's from a fella that was moving to a 3.5" gun - got a box of 3" 5 shot...  I decided to let 'em fly down range, and to my shock & disappointment, I'm barely on the paper @ 30 yds!!!  :(  Both guns are shooting high and to the right -- a Stoeger M2000 26" barrel w/Primos TightWad & a Winchester SXP 26" barrel w/Primos TightWad...

What's going on??  Do the Longbeards prefer a more "open" choke tube??  Both of these guns pattern extremely close to one another, and eat up blended shells...  So, my thoughts are to move to a MagBlend, if I can't get the LB's to work right.

Thoughts?

If your choke selections don't put your POI to POA and you want to use Longbeard put you a red dot or scope on your gun.  I'd recommend a .665 choke for longbeards #5's for a tight pattern, more open choke for a more open pattern.  What size paper target are you using ? What size chokes are you using ?  If nothing else works for you and you don't want to put a scope on your guns go to MagBlend, they may work the same or different.  What shell and shot size were you using before you got the longbeards ?  Did they work good or not?

I don't think it's unusual for different brands of shells to shoot to a little different POI than another brand.

I noticed Longbeards shot a little higher for me than the ammo I used last year so I adjusted my iron sights and Red Dots accordingly.

My Stoeger 3500 shoots everything slightly left and with such a tight pattern in the Longbeards I decided to put a Red Dot on it to take care of that.

10-4; I was shooting custom loads that are basically the moral equivalent to the MagBlend shell -- as I said, my gun ate 'em up & shot them very well (talking about the Stoeger).  The constriction on the Stoeger for the TightWad choke is .655 and the Winchester w/the TightWad is .670.

A buddy this morning has given me an actual MagBlend to try out tonite.  I'm shooting a turkey target printed on a regular plain piece of paper (8.5 x 11).  I'm not really wanting to scope either gun.

Lb 3" #5 and #6's  both shot high out of my 870 w/28" barrel .665 undertaker. Patterned well just shoot high. Cost me a bird Saturday in the rain at 20yds....  :angry9:

Here's what I'm "wondering" - should I install the factory FULL choke tubes in both guns & send some LB's downrange?  Just wondering if a more open constriction is what LB's "prefer".

This is simply a curiousity, tho; I think my results with the MagBlends this afternoon will confirm what I need to do on both guns - ie shoot a blended shell & call it a day.

My Rem 870SM has always shot the open-sights dead-on at 30 yds with 3" loads. When I switched to 3.5" LBs, they shot 12" low, but in line with the 3" loads target.
I put a scope on it this year and am dialed-in @ 40 yds. with the 3.5" LBs. I shot a few targets and am satisfied with 250 #5s in a 10" circle @ 40 yds.

Now, where's all that dirty camo that needs a wash?

I added the tru glo pro series magnum gobble dot iron sights to mine and zeroed them in. It bolts to your vent rib. The longbeard 3.5 #6's costed 2 turkeys their lives with set up and I'm tagged out!

Just because it was shooting high and right doesn't mean it's not throwing a good pattern. Mine shot high and left out of my Benelli. They throw a great pattern. Easy fix with adjustable sights.

One of my guns shot dead on with the LB's, and my other gun patterned them about 3 to 4" higher. Both guns were dead center though.
