Planning on making an over $500 purchase at Tractor Supply.  Does anyone know if they offer coupons for that amount spent?

I frequent TSC often but haven't seen a 5 or 10% off coupon for a specific amount spent.  I have seen them offer hundreds off specific items, like gun safes though.  I know Lowes will give you 10% off of lime, fertilizer and other items, if you purchase a certain number of bags etc. and you can get another 10% if your military or retired military.  If I were you, I would contact the Store Manager of the store you want to deal with and see if he can help lower the price to your satisfaction.  It never hurts to ask.  What's the worst he can say.  Good Luck.

I managed a Tractor Supply Store for 5 years and have never seen coupons for 10 or 15 percent on anything. The only way was when you opened a TSC credit card they would offer 10 percent. That has been a long time ago and things might have changed since. Their theory was that they sell everything at the lowest price possible everyday. I recommend shopping smart. You can usually buy lowes and Home Depot coupons on eBay.

Also, I am not sure if it is because it is farm store or what but everybody seemed to want to barter. They would drive me nuts. TSC does offer a price match guarantee. The store managers at tractor supply have zero ability to negotiate prices except in very limited situations. I have seen store managers fired and prosecuted for discounting merchandise for friends or family members. TSC considers it theft if the store manager takes it on himself to discount stuff outside very strict guidelines. There are bulk discounts on some things. Folks used to come in and give me the old "I use it on my farm" line, when they were buying a push mower and then ask to get something tax free. Some states don't really give farmers much of a tax break on things. For example, horse feed is taxable in lots of states but cattle feed isn't because a horse isn't considered a livestock. They are pets. Same thing with barbwire or grease in a tube. Some places they are taxed and some they are not. If you have a tax I'd number it's a different story. Most folks though think that if they have five acres and a tomatoe patch that everything they buy at a farm store should be tax free. So if you don't have a tax I'd number and make your living farming, don't give the manager a bunch of grief about tax exemptions. There isn't anything the guy can do.
