Question for Tenzing TZ TP14 Owners

Hey guys,

Just a quick question for those of you who have own or have had their hands on the TZ TP14 Turkey Pack by Tenzing.

How do you feel about the weight of the pack, is it balanced enough that it doesn't really feel especially heavy, or does it seem like it'd be a chore to lug it around on long hikes.

I'm currently running a Super Elite 3, which weighs around 5lbs (fully loaded).  The TP14 is nearly 8lbs empty, so I assume I can expect a total weight around 11-12lbs, which isn't all that much, but everything counts on the long hikes.

I really like the idea of the "kickstand" style turkey vests... a number of times I have found what look like excellent spots, only to be screwed out of a place to set up comfortably for long periods of time.  Tree's covered in ants / poison oak / no large enough trees to sit against, etc.  You know the drill.

Anyway, thanks for the input.

I guess if you are going to do more sitting than running and gunning it would be ok.  Is that 11-12lbs fully loaded with your gear? It is kind of pricey but I guess for a seat and a vest it couldn't be all that bad.  But if you like it, and are willing to lug it around and have the money, then it might be a great buy.  I looked around the web to see what it was, I have never heard of one, most places wanted 299.00 for it.  I saw one place that wanted 249.00, I don't know what kind of a deal you have going but it might pay you to look around, just saying

I don't know about their Turkey Pack I personally use their TZ 2220 day pack for all my hunting including turkey and have no problem packing what I need.

This is actually the only reason I had been considering it... honestly even at $220 it's still a bit on the spendy side, but I have been in the market for a new vest/pack for a while, and it looks like a nice one.

Yes, but that's a guess.  My current, fully loaded vest is about 5-6lbs, the TP14 is about 8lbs empty.

I have one of those Cabela's Gobble Lounger chairs that I occasionally pack with me, which adds about 7 lbs to my loadout.  More than the weight, it's awkward to carry for long hikes, so I usually leave it behind.

I'm leaning toward holding off... I know Tenzing has a good reputation in general, but there are literally zero unbiased reviews for this pack out there at this point, and I think I can get another season out of my SE3.
