Trying to finish off my 870 20 gauge youth gun. What are you guys using and how are you mounting it?
I have the tru-glo tru-bead now. Wanting to see what others are doing. I am waiting on my SumToy choke to come in and will be using fed#7's.

Leaning toward one of the tru glo red dot scopes. I haven't had one of these in hand to see how they mount ect.

I am guessing I need to get it drilled and tapped for a base - any suggestions? I would like to use the same gun for "regular shooting"  the rest of the year so I do not want something "permanent" .

Thoughts?

Burris FF3 on a Marlin 336 base...if you can find a base. It only requires tapping two 8-40 holes on 1/2" center to center.

I have a bushnell TRS25 for a red dot and I love it. Its cheap and reliable so far. That said i'm planning on picking up a fastfire at some point. Both require that the gun be either drilled or a saddle mount.

I also have Williams slugger sights on a turkey gun, for traditional sights they're awesome. No drilling and are easy to shoot in.

You could try a saddle mount...no drill & tap required.  Just drop the pins out of the trigger assembly and replace with the supplied screws to secure the mount.

Works great and is removable for wingshooting.

B-Square makes a saddle mount for the Rem 870 youth model.  Be sure to get the model for the Rem 870 LT 20. The regular 20 ga model is too big.

I might have one up for sale here in the next day or two NIB. I'll let you know what happens with a potential deal i have ggoing on, and if it falls through.

I would go with this and not look back.

Thanks. I did not know they made a saddle mount for a 20. All I have seen was for a 12. OgMAJ - What is the # for the mount I need? Bowhunter where did you find it for $20?

I really want the FF3 but I am going to have to wait on that.

Thanks!

I have been using this saddle mount and Mueller for three seasons on my 870 youth and so far it has been perfect.
