Started hunting ohio this past deer season, I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a decent wildlife area or one with less hunting pressure to spring turkey hunt this spring?  I hunted highlandtown wildlife area for first day of deer and it was a mad house.

I don't know if you tried this yet, but if you go on the odnr website there is a section that has maps and listings of all the public hunting areas. Ohio public land gets hammered pretty hard, especially during deer gun season. I hunted Highland town once in deer season, your right about the crowds! We used to hunt in Jefferson county quite a bit. We would camp at Jefferson Lake state park and hunt there and the surrounding areas like Harrison and Fernwood. I never hunted turkey there but I know that there was good populations though. For turkey I mostly hunt Trumbull and Ashtabula county's. The Wayne should be good but I think it would be tough to scout due to its size and it is intermixed with a lot of private land in some blocks, a map is your friend there. Good luck, you should be able to find some good hunting in those areas, and I would try hunting during the weekdays if possible, it will be less crowded by far.

I deer hunt Ohio on public land. Going to Turkey hunt it this year cause the amount of gobblers I seen was ridiculous. With that said, I would stay away from all the big name places and focus on small, not well known areas away from any cities or big towns.

I'm thinking ill prob try highlandtown first because it's pretty close and then maybe try leesville or valley run, I know ill at least be hunting April 25,26,27 and maybe may 2.  If I get some more time I might travel further west and give it a shot In some areas I want to check out for archery. Thanks for the posts
