Can you order this gun without the surshot stock? With just a regular stock?

I doubt it but you could email or call remington and ask. Never hurts to find out. If not you may be able to find a stock to match the camo on remingtons country store or gunpartscorp. Best of luck.

I would recommend the Remington 870 super mag turkey/waterfowl combo in mossy oak bottomland. It is the same guy without the surshot grip.

Thanks guys. I want the shorter barrel. The turkey/ waterfowl has a 26 inch barrel

I'm with you on the shorter barrels. I like a 21"-24" myself. Some will say the short barrels dont pattern as good as say a 26" but I have 21" 11-87 that will prove them wrong. The only thing about short barrels is they can be picky sometimes and that is why I keep 10 rem turkey chokes around lol.

Have you shot one with the Shur Shot? I added one to my 870 SM and it surprised me how it reduced felt recoil. Plus since I'm not going to be swinging on any doves or ducks I like the stability the pistol grip offers.

WildSpur

Yep...no love for the shurshot?  I love the thing.  I can hold rock steady and it does help with recoil.

I was in a similar boat as you last year.  I wanted that specific gun but did not want the red dot on top of it.  I did not inquire to see if I could get it without optics.  I just ordered the 23" version.

If you are concerned about the stock being bulky or cumbersome I can attest to you that it is not.  I am a runner/gunner and cover a lot of miles in the woods (8 in one day last spring with a shurshot).  It did not bother me at all.

Yes I do not like the shure shot stock. It's just too bulky for me.
