Opening day alabama 2014- how was your morning?

Hunting private land in talladega county. No hens no toms  no gobbles and no fresh turkey tracks.

Got a hard drive full of turkey pics for the game camera though.

Shot mine in cleburne county this morning but he never gobbled just came in strutting. Didn't hear a single gobble all morning

Hunted Choccolocco this morning. It was tough. Spend a little time here about every season. Most hunters I ever saw on the area. Some were from out of state. Thought I heard one way off gobble at daylight. Some buddies with me bumped turkeys. I don't think they're doing it real strong yet. Friend of mine is keeping up with a couple flocks in another N Ala county. He's seeing tons of birds but has yet to hear a gobble.

We were able to kill one, but did not hear the first gobble. I only talked to one or two people that heard birds this morning, and they only heard a few gobbles.

My dad is in nw Alabama and same story. No gobbles but he did see birds.

In Escambia county,I heard one gobble at least 50 times on nearby property, another one once, saw nothing. We had early sprinkles and overcast skies.

My bud near Troy heard 7-8 on other land, his son killed one with 1 3/8" hooks and was all by itself. They had sunshine all morning.

My weather will not be clear until Tuesday.

I killed this one opening morning in chambers co. Only heard 2 birds but this one gobbled all the way to the gun and was on the ground by 7:30

Tuscaloosa County...heard a couple of hens, 1 nearby and pissed that I was there. Lol. Heard a couple gobbles but far off on another piece of property and my calling isn't nearly good enough to bring 'em in yet. 

Most people I know that hunt around central/West AL had very little luck. The couple that did kill one all said they were silent birds that never gobbled.

Hunted there Saturday morning. Heard 2-3 gobbles from daylight to about 1 hour after daylight. I agree about the number of hunters, most hunters that I have ever seen there I believe.

Pretty much the same in Autauga county, quiet birds but good sign in the area since the last big rain.  They are there, just not with the program yet.  Gonna be a slow start same as we had last year but we finished strong.  I would expect the same thing this year.

I didn't hear a peep.  After listening at my normal listening spots, at 8AM checked a small green field where I'd see a few hens the week before; there were 4 hens and 1 strutter in it.  I got as close as I could, but could not get the gobbler to come in close enough for a shot.  He eventually followed the hens into the woods, never gobbling.  After lunch... it was a different story.  I got back to the green field a 2PM, set my decoy out at 25 yards, settle into the shadows and make a few calls.  About an hour later, half asleep, I became wide awake when I heard a gobble about 150y off in the woods.  I made a few yelps, and waited.  10 minutes later this guy struts into the field and puts a whipping on my decoy.
