Hey guys I am looking for a good light weight turkey hunting boot. I am wanting a shorter boot about ankle high or so. I don't want a rubber boot or a high lace up snake boot. Just a really light, decent water proof, good tread, shorter hunting boot. What do you all like? Any suggestions?

From your description it sounds like a hiking boot would fit the bill. Lots of those out there. Merrell, Asolo, Vasque, are just a few.

Yep, you want a hiker.

I am still wearing a pair of Danner camo Radicals I have had since about 04 I think.  They have served me very well.  They only see trails and woods.  No joke--I am pushing 1,000 miles on these boots (I track all my hikes and hunts on gps).  I could be past that already.  They have no signs of unusual wear.         I do see cabelas has similar boots as to what I have.  Not sure who made them for them though but they look similar.

You're gonna want Meindl Perfekt boots through cabelas.  The hikers are 7" tall and have a gortex liner on the inside.  Typical hiker you'll have to waterproof quite often and even then on mornings of rain or heavy dew they will leak.  Been there done that.  Meindl's are incredibly comfortable and have cork insoles that form to your foot.  Pricey but well worth it and they'll last for years.

Awesome! I'll make sure to look up all of those.

Check out Asolo. I've had mine since 04. Hicked in the rockies and large parts if the Appalachian trail. I just change the laces out about once a year. I wear them bow hunting and turkey hunting.

I am debating on if I can just wear my solomon hiking boots or do I need some real hunting camo boots

Those will work. I would wear running shoes if it wasn't for dirt getting down in my shoes. Only time I wear boots, spring or fall, is when there's snow on the ground or gotta cross deep creeks. Rest of the time is hikers
