Hi guys

I am a city boy here and on my way to work this morning 1/4 mile from my house there is a basketball court and a tennis court seperated by about a 100 yard field. In the headlights of my car I saw a nice sized coyote, I tried to get a cell phone pic but he got too far away and it didnt show up. seeing as how my boys play in this park it raised the hairs on the back of my neck. This is in the middle of the city with very little cover or wood lots, I am thinking of contacting animal control because I think he would go 30+ pounds.

Yeah yotes will live anywhere there is food.  I think with hide prices in the tank they aren't being trapped or hunted much anymore so they are spreading into more urban areas.  I would definitely call animal control and at least let them know about it. Hopefully it was just passing through.

I live about 15 miles outside of Washington DC and I know people who have trail camera pictures of coyotes.  Not one - but packs of them.

Like said above, coyotes are everywhere and they somehow adapt very well to even the city environments.  I see them all the time, saw one last week sitting on the exit ramp of the interstate for one of the most commercial parts of town.  Honestly, I don't think animal control would be able to do anything about it.

Thats cuz you have all the game down state now ;D

I would leave him be until he leaves town. Coyotes usually come to town looking for food, which a lot of the time ends up being a cat. Great way to control the cat population. :icon_thumright:

I live 3 miles from the Minnesota State Capitol,  St. Paul. I can see the capital from our street in the winter.  I have some pictures of a coyote that I took on my morning dog walk.
They are everywhere, you do not see them often but they are around.
They are eating mice, rabbits and whatever they can get.
They are not a problem unless they get rabies.
