Building a Rem 870 for a back up turkey gun.  Cant decide between these two stocks.  Pro and cons .... ready go

Which Knox? The Recoil reducing or the non recoil reducing? I like my Shur Shot but I haven't compared it to a Knox.

I have one of each on a couple of guns but prefer the ATI stocks. I like the AKITA adjustable hunting stocks and their tactical stocks. I have those on a few guns as well. All are good however and I would not fault any of them.

Thanks,

I don't know about on a 870, but a good friend of mine put a Knox "recoil reducing" stock on a 835. With a 3.5 inch turkey load, it kicked just as hard as it did with the original stock. My cheek took a beating as well. As far as the sure shot, I have one on my 870 supermag and with 3.5 inch turkey loads it hits hard, but manageable , and nowhere near as bad as the 835 with the Knox.

I have 2 of the Remington 870 Max Gobblers that have the Knoxx recoil reducing stock. For me, they work great,,a definite reduction in felt recoil.

I never tried the knoxx but going from a straight stocked 835 to a 870 supermag with a shurshot stock alone was a noticeable difference.

I've shot both on the same gun and prefer the shurshot. The Knox stock does reduce recoil on your shoulder but everytime I shot it felt like I had been kicked in the face by a mule.
I'm with Clark on this one. I prefer the ATI talon over the others.

i am leaning towards adding a Knoxx or Ati to my winchester 1300...the shurshot grip is nice...

I have the knoxx and it works great, however i did not read the fine print from remington in regards of how to use the stock when i first used it. First and for most  do not put your cheek against the stock like you would a normal stock or when you pull the trigger your going to think you got into a fight with a sliver back gorilla. Lightly apply cheek to stock and pull the trigger and you are good to go.

The Knoxx stock as mentioned requires a different cheek weld. Get past that, or get you the Powerpak for it, and it will reduce a lot of felt recoil. It also helps if you adjust it for the correct length of pull.

Got the sure shot, it feels great. My only complaint is its hard to take safety off.  She is getting a paint job now

to late now but i have the knox with the spings to reduce recoil. I think that feature and I like the adjustable stock. Its good know when im 90 and I have shrunk back down to my middle school days the gun will still fit me.
