870 ejection problems

I had problems with my 870 Bottomland edition turkey gun the last two seasons. I will not eject 3.5" loads, including handloads, Hevi-13'S, and Nitros. I initially thought it was the hot and often over pressured Nitro loads, but it does it with all of them. I have cleaned it several times but it doesn't seam to help much. I want to next replace the extractor with a heavier one, but I want to make sure I am ordering the right one. I plan on ordering a Remington part# F16176, which is a non-MIM version used in the police 870's. I might go ahead and replace the plunger and spring too. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I ran into a very similar problem with my 870 2 years ago and came up with a solution. Check it out here.

Replacing the MIM extractor with a machined part would certainly be good insurance, but it may not be absolutely necessary. Try cleaning the parts mentioned in the referenced link first and see if that solves your problem.

Let us know how it turns out.   :anim_25:
