:TrainWreck1: Ok i finally got to shoot my brand new just got back home 870. This is the one with the barrel/reciever misalignment that i have recently posted about. There is still a ever so slight alignment issue, i reinstalled my adjustable fiber optic sights and am still bottoming them out to one side to center point of impact to the point where it is actually uncomfortable to get your eyes into the sights, i actually have a welt on my cheek from the turkey loads. Also this gun shoots approx 10-12 inches high from center with the elevation bottomed out, i tried shooting with just the open bead sight but it makes it nearly impossible, you would never hit anything flying as the bead is nowhere near what you are shooting at in order to hit it! And this gun came back from rem. FIXED this way! They must have never test fired it, incan tell they attempted to straighten what ever was not right in the first place because it looks alot better than it did but is still totaly unacceptable. I emailed their service dept with the work order # and inspectors # that apparently worked on it, Inhave asked for them to either replace this gun altogether, or i would send it back with all paperwork and sales recipt for a refund, we will see if they contact me back tomorrow, if not i have several phone numbers for them i will call until i get some kind of satisfaction!! I gave them a chance to do the right thing and make his right, but feel very insulted by their lack of support.

Wow! I am really surprised at the way Remington has handled this. I hope you get it straightened out soon!

What choke you got in the gun.  Try a different one to see if that helps because I have seen a choke be off.   Now if got friend with a gun try his barrel or yours on his gun.  This will help figure out problem with gun.  You will know more when you talk with them.    :anim_25:
Tell us just how dead do you want them to be and we will see if we can get that for you.

I called rem. today and told them what was going on with the gun, they told me to send it back, when i told them i already did once the line went silent! Then i told them i just wanted it replaced they said that will be their choice not mine. I got the feeling that everything i told them about the problems i was haveing it just went in one ear and out the other! She told me that she brought up the first work order it stated there was a misalignment problem, but nothing was listed on how it was fixed! Some record keeping system they must have. It looks like i am sending it back again, if it doesnt come back right this time atleast ill have a really nice boat oar!!

be patient with them......  They have a recent reputation of resolving product quality issues ///// urban legend has it that a few politely disgruntled 887 owners received a versa max in exchange ..... Be polite .... But drop a hint like , "i wish I got the versamax instead "

I am not surprised at all.  I want to buy an 11-87 so bad, but wont due to the fact it will be nothing like the one I foolishly sold 20 years ago.  Best of luck.  Keep in mind there are other firearm companies out there.  Might be time to make a change.

The last two guns I bought from Remington were unsatisfactory. I no longer trust them but hope someday they change my mind. Poor customer service is a step in the wrong direction. They sure are not the company that they use to be, but I see this in a lot of areas of business in our current society. People and businesses that screw there customers/peers, should be called out and revealed if we are ever going to make a change!

Good luck and keep us posted on how they handle the issue for you!!

That is the very reason I am buying every Remington 1187 and 870 Special Purpose I can afford.  These guns, which were made in the 90's, are head and shoulders above the Remingtons made in recent years. You could not give me a current Remington 1187. :OGturkeyhead:

I have been e-mailing back and forth with remingtons customer service for the last few days, i believe they are now willing just to REPLACE this shotgun! They should be recieving this gun back in the mail anytime if they havent all ready. I have been trying to be as polite as i can about the situation but it is hard given the attitude of some of their employees. I simply told them that they as a company build these products and set the price on them and we as custers have to pay said price if we want their merchandise, and in return we expect to recieve a fully functional/useable product, and they did not provide that as a company! And i will not settle for a brand new gun that has to go through extensive rework to function properly. My main concern is if they have to tweak some of the components on this gun so all the parts of this particular gun work together, how can i be sure if i ever do decide to purchase other barrels that this problem will not arise again. I honestly dont see why it has been so hard to get them just to replace it. I will keep you posted on my progress.

I find these post amusing.  I definitely feel your frustration and rightfully so, but in the whole scheme of things, "lemons" are probably few and far between.  The problem is that we just hear about those lemons more than the millions of satisfied owners.  However, I would be patient and stay with them.  Who knows, it usually will end up being in your favor.  You still have lots of time before turkey season.  Like many here, I had a new 870 SM that flat out would shoot the most consistent patterns I've seen. I just hated the headache it game me when it did.  Good luck and based on your newest post, looks like they are making good on the deal.

After reading all of the bad press about Remington these last few years, I took a chance and purchased a new Remington 1911R1 a year or so ago.  I have been pleased with it.  It hasn't failed, which is the main thing I ask of any firearm.  Look good, feel good, & don't fail.  Don't fail!!!

I am very pleased with my 1990's 870 Express.  It's as smooth as glass, shoots straight, balances well, etc.  But I was a little nervous back in 2012 when I was buying a 1911.  I wanted the Remington to be a good decision.  I wanted to be able to say nice things about Remington.  It turns out that I can.
