I had a post on here before about my brand new 870 that right out ofthe box the barrel and reciever were not in line with each other. I just got it back today, pretty impressive turnaround time(8days)! But that is the only thing that is impressive about the whole situation! There was nothing stating what the exact problem was nor how they fixed it. All the service invoice said was- described problem, barrel and reciever misaligned, problem assessed- barrel and reciever misaligned. It appears that they may have removed the ring that i soldered under the barrel that goes over the mag tube and reposisioned it, they didnt do a very good job at it, as it is very rough and they missed soldering the one side on the outter edge but that same side is soldered on the inner edge, it actually rubs one side of the mag tube a little, the top of the reciever has some light marks where the finish was rubbed by what looks like the gripping edge of a table vice, it is through the finish! Also it looks like they left a first grader remove the trigger pins with a ice pick, there are scratches through the finish around the holes i have rubbed them with oil and arent as noticable. I haven got to shoot it because it is raining but everything does apear to be lined up now. As long as it shoots closer to poi-poa im gonna cut my losses and just live with it all, but i am very disapointed withthe care that was given to my new in the box shotgun, i dont believe i will ever buy another remington product, i own several from years back and they are some of my favorites but i think they have drasticly went down hill since those days!

What i meant to say is the ring that is soldered under the barrel, not the ring i soldered on! Before anyone thinks i was hackin this gun up i didnt solder anything! Lol.

I'd have thought they might just replace the barrel if that was where the problem was.  Looks like that would have been easier for them then try to fix it.  Well at least like you said the turnaround time was quick.

Yes, i agree that i would have thought they would have just swapped barrels. Unless there was another problem and (custom) fitting the barrel was the easiest fix. Im going to. Get a buddy of mine to let me try his barrel just to see how it fits and lines up. Either way i dont ever plan on swapping barrels for any reason so all should be good.

Remington = junk.  Never thought I would have come to that conclusion.  They were a benchmark for many many years. Now they have been stretched out to the max as a corporation and depend on producing poor shotty products, and relying on the old reputation to carry the CEO to his retirement.  I firmly believe that they have the capability to become a great gun manufacturer again. But it will take alot to reverse the image they tarnished.
