hickory for a pot?

I have used hickory and pecan, which are very similar in grain structure.   
You might need to thin your pot walls a bit compared to other woods.

Hickory makes a very good sounding pot, I've used it a lot. As Wendel said keep them a bit thinner, but they produce a loud sounding call.
