I have a old craftsmen lathe and trying to figure out the best chuck for turning calls and strikers, any suggestions? Thanks

I have a barracuda chuck with several different jaw sizes that works great for pots.  For strikers I just turn them between centers.

You will need to find out the thread size on the Craftsman lathe.  I started with a Craftsman lathe built in the 1970's.  It had a different thread configuration and had a #1 morse taper.  Most of the newer lathes have a #2 morse taper and a different thread configuration on the head stock.   You can buy an adapter for the threads to allow you to use a wider variety of chucks.  Just do some exploring on the web.

A good place to start would be Penn State Industries.  They have reasonably good quality tools at decent prices.
