had to wax xtended range

My 870 quit feeding shells and I found the plunger stuck. I figured it had rusted as I have no mercy on it and hunt in pouring rain, put it up wet and it is always full of shells. Cleaned it up a little and got it working just to have it stuck agan the next day. Cleaned it out good with a brush and oiled it just to have it stuck agan. This time I did a little investigating and found it full of buffer. Pocket of my vest is also full of buffer and my shells are very loose. I waxed them to keep any more from leaking out but now I worry about the wax chipping off and clogging it up. The shells looked to be sealed up really good but they were not. Anybody else found this in winchester?

I've never had any leak before . I still have 9 boxes and all are sealed tight . I did have a box of federal heavyweight that was full of buffer in the box when I bought them .

I experienced almost the exact same problem with my 870. The last couple of seasons I've shot the Winchester Super Supreme Elite Extended Range in 3.5" #6. This season I experienced a failure to feed and it was the magazine follower sticking. I had to work on it twice to correct the problem. My problem was rust in the magazine tube and the plastic follower becoming rough on its side. I used Scotchbright on both, a little oil in the tube and a little grease on the follower. Life is good again. I have also experienced the buffering leaking out of the Winchester shells, but it didn't cause a failure to feed.

Had that happen with two boxes last year. Contacted Winchester about it and they had UPS pick up the shells and they sent me a Winchester Gift card. Good CS
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands, love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper; his hands remember the rifle.

Had the same problem few years ago with benelli SBE and like you, didnt immediately recognized the problem was the shell and not the gun. Also, put wax on them ,,, seems like the newer
boxes didnt have that problem. but now, anyway, I shoot federal thugs.
