Has anyone hunted Colorado gmu 91 or 92 in the spring?  My brother and I have drawn for those two areas and we are excited to go, just not sure of good spots. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  We would be willing to pay trespass fees or go public. Thanks

Oh that's a tuff one.  Those units are mostly private and from my past experience, most landowners don't embrace hunters in Colorado.  I know that there are some patches of public but they are small, except for Tamarack and it is huge and full of turkeys so that may be all you need.  Remember though, Colorado's public ground gets a lot of traffic from non hunters as well.  During the week you'll probably be fine and have a great time.  Oh, and there are some absolutely huge whitetails on that river.  If that doesn't work for you might be able to find a willing landowner but it's late in the game.  The draw hunts are competitive and Colorado is set up to favor outfitters and they accomplish that by providing some non-outfitted hunters access.  It's been a while since I've lived and hunted turkeys in Colorado but in all my years I only drew one contolled permit and it was a great time.  If you do get access the hunting is usually pretty darn good.  You might contact the Division of Wildlife and if memory serves, they used to have a list of names of agreeable landowners.  Hopefully, things have changed there because Colorado has some of the best all around hunting anywhere in the West.  Best of luck!

There are only 25 tags for those units along with 25 private land only tags, so there won't be much competition.  I suspect the majority will be on the Tamarack SWA.  I've never been in the SWA, but I suspect you won't need to go anywhere else.  Your really late to just start searching for hunting areas, but I know time can get away from you.  Go to the DOW's web site and look for the regional wildlife officer maps and give them a call.  The SWA website is here:          http://wildlife.state.co.us/LandWater/StateWildlifeAreas/Pages/swa.aspx

I looked some more and it appears that there is also Bravo and Julesburg SWA's that are along the river and have turkeys listed.  They show either unit 91 or 92.
Click on the link I provided above, click on the map, then click on Logan County, then select the Tamarack or Bravo from the drop down menu.  Then do the same for Sedgwick and click on Julesburg.  Or you can scroll through the entire list and select those.  There are printable maps that show parking, restrooms, access, and boundaries.  There is also an intereactive map that shows aerial images overlayed by the boundaries and gmu boundaries.
I wouldn't expect you would need to hunt anything more than those areas.

Thanks for the quick replies guys.  I appreciate it.  I am not starting 100% from scratch here, as I have called the Game Wardens for the two Units, just thought I would ask about the public/private options on this site as well.  Has anyone ever had success knocking on doors in that area, etc.  I am very familiar (Through Duck Hunting) with all the public options in the area and plan on scouting it several times in the next couple weeks to hopefully put some birds to bed.  But still, thought I would ask on here.  Thanks again.

I was trying to figure out why you weren't already hunting unitl I looked at the regs.  I didn't realize those units each have a split season (25 tags for each).  I've never hunted the area, but it looks like the swa's should hold a lot of birds.  However, 25 guys may have pushed them off by the time you hunt.  I bet most of those guys are only hitting it on weekends.
