Many people have had great results with the Timney Trigger kits. (https://www.timneytriggers.com/)

Some manufacturers make replacement sear springs of various weights as well.

I cut down a spring out of a Bic pen and put in mine, made it very light.

I am gonna subscribe to this thread. Mine could use a upgrade as well.

Strutter,
Check out Bill Springfield at www.triggerwork.net  He adjusted my 835 trigger for me and took it from 6 lbs down to 3.  He took a lot of the creep out also.

I got the patriot sear spring for mine and it definately is worth the $15.Id say it brought it down to a 3.5 pound pull. The timney trigger fix is pretty pricey and in my opinion it would only be worth doing on a slug gun.

I saw several 870 trigger upgrades on ebay awhile back

X2 on the barnes gun parts springs. Took both my 11-87 and 870 to around 3.25-3.5 lbs.

The "Timney Trigger Fix" comes with 3 different springs and a new sear that is adjustable. It will literally make your shotgun trigger feel like a very fine rifle trigger. I've put several in 870s and 11-87s and they are excellent.

They were hard to find for a while but I haven't looked lately so they may be more available.

Thanks,

I put these in both of my 870's and my 7600 .30-06.  It definitely helped the trigger pull weight, but there is still a long trigger travel distance.

I put a Timney in an 11-87 20 gauge and it was a huge improvement. A nice clean crisp pull. An ex-Army buddy with lots of rifle experience tried it and immediately made the same comparison to a good rifle trigger.  I didn't have any trouble getting one from Midwest Gun Works. Midway has them too.
