What type of diaphragm calls do you use for soft calling (specifically purring? # of reeds and type of cut? Do you have a specific brand/call you already love for soft calling?

I asked a call maker at a sports show yesterday and he said you can use any call....which is true but certain cuts and number of reeds have to be better. Just want to see what you guys thi

For me, a two reed is easiest to purr softly with. The less air it take to make the call work, the easier it is for me to call soft with.

I use a 2 reed bat cut for nice soft purrs and clucks.

2 or 3 reed V cut or batwing. Less stretch gives you a deeper more raspy purr.

From what you said i would recomend a three reed call built with prophalactic or at least proph on the bottom reeds and a V, combo, or batwing cut.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

In my line the  Extreme Flock Talker is built for soft and loud.

Gooserbat---is there a call from your line that you recommend for soft calling that fits the description you gave, or you like to use for soft calling otherwise.

Also, what is your favorite all around call that you make? I might pick a few calls up on your website later on if you point me in the right direction.

I just tried Gooserbat's Hillbilly call and it sounds great.  I can go light or loud with it.
People who don't get it, don't get that they don't get it.

I ordered the extreme flock talker from wild talker game calls, the hillbilly from gooserbat calls, and the pit boss and the prima dona from head crusher calls.

I should get them next week, and I'll play with them for a few days, and then let you guys know how they are working for soft calling and all around calling both.

The flock talker and the prima dona/pit boss were recommended by the call makers themselves, so I'm looking forward to trying them especially.

I want to try a Hooks call too, which one is best for soft calling, and what is one of their best all around calls?

Either a Hillbilly or I could knock out one of my old Bellringers I used to build.  It played super soft.

I got my hooks calls today...executioner 2 and 2.5 V....the exec 2 is my new favorite call...its awesome, I love how small these calls are, I don't know why other companies haven't caught on to that yet...both calls are excellent for soft calls, but the exec 2 sounds great for all calls...it has a great sound that is effortless....if you are reading this thread and are looking for a call, order the executioner 2 from Hooks!!!
