I'm the current owner of a Winchester model 1300 nwtf edition 24" barrel. I'm having pattern issues. My current set-up is a kicks gobblin thunder .655 choke and I shoot Winchester #5 1 3/4oz extended range, the gun just won't pattern worth a crap. I know .655 is tight and would like a choke recommendation as well as maybe a few loads. I'm considering federal #6 flite control and federal magnum blend both in 3". Oh just a FYI for you, I'm so direct towards you because our brothers in the gon forum suggested you. So thank you in advance buddy.  :gobble:

If you don't mind some advice from someone besides Gold Hunter, I would suggest Winch XRHD in 6s, not 5s and Fed HW 7s, not 6s. Your numbers will be considerably higher, and both of those pellets have way more than sufficient energy to kill at 40 yds.

Everyone is welcome to input, I appreciate all the info I can get. I just singled him because I was told he was very familiar with the model 1300 and its shooting characteristics. Thx a bunch, I'm still learning all the ins and outs of my favorite season of the year.

I would NOT shoot flite control through that ported kicks choke.

I have the exact gun and i have a kicks gobblin thunder in it, .660 constriction,  and it shoots really well. As advised i would go to 6s in the Winchester or i would shoot the hevishot 2 oz #6s i favor the hevishot over the extended range.

With lead i have shot literally 100's of flight control wads through kicks chokes lead and heavyweight they are safe and boswell will tell you so. The only thing he says is dangerous is hevi but thats bull* as well

Sounds like .660 is the ticket. I'm looking at get another choke for hevi shot, any ideas? I've looked at the HS undertaker, is there any count to this one? I'll probably switch to xr #6 and hw #7's, is there any count to the magnum blends? Thanks for everyone's input, it's greatly appreciated!

If you'll switch to #6 shot, I think you'll see your patterns improve dramatically. I'd also deep clean the bore. That will get any "gunk" that may have accumulated out and let you start fresh with a new turkey load.

Thanks,

Well the 1300 is cleaned inside and out, just waiting on some new tubes. Bass pro was slap out of .660 chokes for my gun. I have bought federal magnums #6 w/flite control wad and hevi-13 magnum blend. I'm going to order a gobblin thunder .660 and hevi shot .660 choke from midway USA. Ill post results when I have chokes in hand.

I have a .675 undertaker hs for my 21" 1300.  Would average 170's with H13 3/2/6 and 150's with winchester er #6.
