South Carolina turkey hunters. Question for you

Hey guys I am planning a trip to South Carolina this spring for a Turkey/Boar combo hunt. This hunt will be in the town of Estill. The season dates are March 15-may 1st. Is any one part of the season better than the other? What week would you pick for the most activity? Thanks for your time.

Very vague question there, I wouldn't pick any part of the season better than the rest to be honest. Beginning season birds mostly have a good harem of hens, which doesn't matter if you have done you scouting and can work the flock or that special hen in the group. There on the middle of the season we typically hit a lull which can be trying at times but there again that's where your scouting pays off, and at the end of the season there can be just as good of hunting that at the start once hens are on the nest. Don't look for a ton of gobbling as our Lowcountry birds aren't known for being super vocal consistently. If where you're going holds birds and you're patient then you should be good to go.

Thanks. I guess it was a vague question. Here in NY we only have the month of May to hunt and the beginning of the month always seems much better. I never turkey hunted in march or april so I was just wondering if they would be productive.

i have killed them right off of the limb gobbling on March the 15th and on May the 1st, but like ccleroy said there seems to me  to be a lull after the first week of April.This usually is for a week or less.

Ive had my best luck early in SC. its been my experience hunting in the same area you are going that the gobblers are ganged up and ready for loving early in March. Its good late to. If I was paying to hunt, Id come early.

Naps are better in the early part of the season... less bugs and foliage to inhale!
