Western NC Public Hunting Recommendations

My son will soon be relocating from Colorado back home to the South.  He will be relocating in and around the Asheville or Brevard areas of Western North Carolina. I look forward to having him closer to our home in Georgia and having more opportunities to hunt and fish with him again.  Since I am retired and he will be working, we will definitely have more opportunities to connect when I am visiting him up in WNC.
Neither of us have hunted in NC., and we are interested in identifying public hunting areas (state WMA's, National Forests, etc.) near Asheville to focus on for the 2021 Turkey Season. Not too early to start locating possible turkey hunting sites and getting familiar with them.
We both would certainly appreciate any recommendations and suggestions that any of you folks may offer.
