Great info boss so what ur saying is will use my sons20g Remington over the mossburg 12 lol!

What we are saying is that if you choose the right load and choke, you should easily be able to put 140 pellets in a 10" circle at 40 yards with the 20 ga.  A good 12 ga 3 1/2 combo will put around 300 in a 10" circle at 40.  At the end of the day, both birds will be dead at 40.  The advantage of the 20 ga comes with less recoil and lighter to carry.

If you really want to get serious, hand load your own 20 ga shells.  That's when the 20 ga loads start out performing the 12 ga loads on paper.

To be sure I understand, you are not saying that a hand loaded 20 gauge shell will out perform a 12 gauge hand load are you? If you are getting 140 in a 10 inch circle at 40 yards isn't that serious enough? Are we target shooting or killing turkeys here? :z-dizzy:

No, just trying to make the point that dead is dead and a 20 will get the job done.  Handloading opens up another avenue that makes the 20 look even more like a 12.  Weather a 20 handload will out perform a 12 handload? I guess that depends on the load.

Put a HEVI-Shot choke in my sons 20ga last year and 3in #6 HEVI-13. He killed two birds opening weekend and smashed both of them with no problem. Dropped them in their tracks!!!

Yes. It will kill a gobbler just as dead as your Mossy out to 40 yards. And on top of that, your fillings will stay in place and your retinas won't be detached.

I'm a huge fan of the Carlson's non ported and fed hevi 7s(if you can't afford nitros). But last year I sat up a youth rem express 20 for my 3 nieces. The biggest ways 70lbs when she's soak in wet. The hevi shot 7s kicked a lot less and that was important for them. Here is my answer for a small kid with a Remington youth gun. Tightwad choke and hevi  shot 7s. Lower recoil and much to my surprise the $20 tightwad patterned best. Turkeys took it pretty rough last year too! Lol

I picked up a 20 dollar Tightwad choke last year just for the heck of it,870 20ga youth.
I have several other chokes for this gun,but that Tightwad and magblends can't be touched,a deadly combo.
it's not the harvest,it's the chase
