hey guys I'm shooting a 870 super mag 26 inch barrel with a Indian creek black diamond. I'm getting 159 with a 3inch hevi mag blend at 41 yards and 183 with the 3.5 mag blend at 41. I dont know anyone else with that combo and was wondering if that was good bad or average? Thanks!

I would try another choke if you want more pellets.  I have found that some of the 870's really like the IC and some don't, which can be true of any gun.  Mine did not like it as much as the JellyHead.

I consistently got 230 in a 10" at 40 with the JellyHead .660 and a 26" barrel.  Good luck!

I've had #'s from 165 to 210 with the 3" Magblends out of my 870s. The IC .665 was the only one to break 200 in 10" at 40 yards for me. I haven't tried the Jellyhead .660, but I've heard that will do it easily, I'm assuming because of the all the 6s and 7s in the load. However, I'm not looking to go any tighter. I shoot 95% of my birds at 30 yrds or less, so I prefer a pattern, not a slug.

In your case of getting around 150 at 41 yds, you might just need to go a bit tighter like the Jellyhead .660 or Hevishot choke. Of course you could get a custom choke much tighter than that if range is the issue.

Thanks guys, sounds like I'm getting below average with that combo. But it is a nice even pattern with the 3.5s not so much with the 3s. It took its first two long beards this season both bast 30 yards and they never moved. That's what impresses me with the hevi! it knocked them out cold!
