Box call recommendations?

Hi All,

I am new to turkey hunting and this is my first post to the forum.

I did some searching and found lots of good info on box calls but nothing specific to my situation.  I will be hunting Merriam's in the Colorado mountains and would like a long box call.  I am looking for a high quality call that a rookie like me can learn to use without too much work.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Also, I know there are a lot of great call makers in the eastern and southern U.S. who make fantastic calls, but are there any well regarded call makers in the western U.S., especially in the Rocky Mountain region?

Thanks.

West Augusta

Waterdog is from Washington State.  He makes a fine short box.  I don't know if he makes a long box or not.
He also isn't from the Rockies.
No trees were hurt in the sending of this message, however a large number of electrons were highly inconvenienced.

Give my dad a call, he makes a short box at a good price. He is from WV, but Fred and Michele Eichler use them. They live and hunt in the Rockies.  I will say there are alot of very good box call makers. If you want to call my dad. Lonnie Sneed Sr. 304-425-3021

Everyone - Thanks for the info.  The suggestion on box calls and makers help narrow the range of choices and are very helpful.

The problem with being a rookie is that I don't know enough to be able to decide for myself what I need.  I'll just have to jump in with both feet by buying something and start using it, and progress from there.

bcc2011 - I am in Littleton.

PMs on their way to all who PM'ed me.

Thanks!
