Can someone help me with the differences? What makes it bronzed? What is the difference in crystal? What is double and triple bronzed?

What is double and triple bronzed?

I need to get out more often, I missed these. There was post just the other day about this with some good info. The only glass pots I have are crystal.

Longbeardfever4ever

Never heard of double and triple bronzed.  And I don't know what makes it bronzed. But!

Glass is your typical single strength material.  It works great for those classic hen sounds over a glass soundboard.

Bronzed Glass is in between glass and crystal.  It is not crystal.  It is higher pitched than glass and has more true hen tone in my opinion.

Crystal is a surface with a lead content that makes it higher pitched and easier to run.  Has a lot of true hen in it as well.

Yes if you are throwing it at the turkey. jk Since is has some lead content its more prone to crack. I have 3 and 2 of them I've had several years with no issues.

Bronzed glass is a tinted glass, originally designed for use in the camping world, in motor homes and trailers, so people could just look inside. It is a tempered glass that is very hard to with stand a outdoor abuse of trailers and motor homes on rough roads. It has the same kind of tinting that your autos have. That temp[ering is why bronze glass has a highest pitch to it of all the glasses
Crystal is made of a very fine grit pigments, which is why it has a better sound to it than plain glass does, but with it being a fine pigment it can not with stand a lot of abuse and cracks easier than plain glass does. Any movement in your pots or sudden change in temps can crack it, that's why you don't play crystal calls in real cold weather, the vibration will cause them to crack because of the fine pigments.

Scott answered everything on que, I will answer the double and the triple, that is just the thickness of the glass.

OK another question:  Is bronzed glass less prone to crack than regular glass?

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

Thanks for the info. Bronzed means heat tempered which may or may not change color. Crystal has more lead in it. Double and triple is thicker. Good info.

Any of the glass calls the only significant chance of cracking is them falling from your vest onto a really hard surface like your driveway. Cold or pot swelling is an isolated occurrence. I don't even know anyone personally this has happen to.

They answered the technical aspects above, and all that I will add is that if you get a fine glass call from Lonzo, Stumpy (Dominator), or Hook's or Tom Teasers you'll have a good one.  I am sure that the makers regularly on here have them as well.

I have a bg  in a cocobola pot from Lonzo that I would fight over because it sounds that good.  My hunting partner and I killed 3 gobblers in 30 minutes last year on one of Stumpy's glass pots, and I had a hen walk right up to me and look at me to find the source of the calling.  Lon won the DD Adams with a bg pot, and it was Stumpy, as his supplier and friend, that got him to start using the bg.  Lon has about quit bothering with crystal because the bg works so well.

Glass soundboard, slate soundboard or what?

If I had saved all the money I spent on hunting, I'd spend it on hunting.

I made a glass over glass call this year and after about 2 weeks the glass cracked. NOT normal. Guess I didn't leave enough room between the lip and the surface.  :character0029:
