Yes the individual pellets have the enrgy to kill a turkey. A loooong way further than the pattern would hold up. A 1 3/8 ounce hevi waterfowl load will only have about 172 pelllets depending on the density. A 2 1/4 ounce load of hevi 7s will have about 600 pellets depending on if its 12 or 13 gm/cc shot and contrary to what a choice few on here think, they will reliably slam a gobbler at 40 yards and in if you put those pellets where they need to go...in the head and neck. If you pattern 7s, or any size shot for that matter, and they perform on paper, then the only thing you have as a variable then is human error. If you're shooting at the bird while he's in range...Sure you could definetly kill a bird with the waterfowl loads, but how reliably? I want to know that if I've done my job and put the pattern where it needs to be, there's gonna be a dead bird every time I drop the hammer. I don't think you'll get that kind of security with such a light load, fast or not. Patterning them would be tough to get good even dense patterns at those high velocities too. Imagine how hard it can be to get good patterns with waterfowl loads in waterfowl chokes...now squeeze that pattern down that much more...
