I too had this exact same thing happen, and on the last day about five years ago.  One roosted to my left 200 yards, two to the right little less than 200 yards, and two behind me 500+ yards.

Came down to which side of the tree to sit on because the two behind and the two to the right were on their way.  I picked the two closest, roosted to the right of me, and lost.  The two that were over 500 yards away got there double time and busted me from behind.  Couple alarm putts and the woods went quiet.  Didn't kill a one of them, either.

Two shooters would have gotten the job done that day, so you got the best advice already -- phone a friend....
A quality paddle caller will most run itself.  It just needs someone to carry it around the woods. Yoder409
