Picked up the new TG BC .670 choke.

Took a good look at the new .670 TG Bone Collector choke tonight for my 835.  I gotta say, so far I  like what I see.  It is heavily built and looks well machined and nicely blued.  What I immediately noticed, looks aside, is how the porting is a lot different from just about every other choke I have ever seen.  It resembles artillery muzzle break porting where unlike traditional chokes, the porting on these is flared considerably larger than the actuall final constriction.  It has a smooth transition from taper to constriction and contains no was strippers/wad compressors.  What I'm thinking is that with this smooth transition and flared muzzle porting, it might just work well with the Fed. FC wads???...  I had to try it and while I'm not sure the $50 price tag is going to be worth it, I'm going to pattern it as soon as it's warm enough.  Does anybody have any experience with this choke so far?  Clark?...I know you're usually the guy to ask in these instances...

I've been very curious about those chokes but i don't believe they will work well with the flight control wads seeing that it is ported.

I would be curious as what you come up with.  Plus I just did a search and found them on cheaper than dirt for $39

Idk...maybe.  the thing about them is that the porting area at the muzzle is much larger than the actuall tube constriction.  I have shot the heavy weights through ported chokes and gotten excellent results.  The thing that really screws up the FC wad is the wad catcher/compressor rings and studs. I really don't think porting affects the performance that much if at all as there is really no physical influence on the wad with porting like there is with internal rings/studsand let's face it the porting would have to be LONG to bleed off enough gasses and pressure to stop the rear-deploy fins from working. I have shot about 750 federal black cloud waterfowl loads through ported and non-ported chokes and found no difference in patterning/performance.

I think you called all of it just right on the BC chokes. The ports are beyond the true muzzle and do not effect the action of the wad on the shot column.

The quality is quite high and I've been pleased with the results I've seen with them.
