What should i expect. its a new 870sm with 26in barrel.

Trevor2

I would think you could expect good things. They say the longer barrelled 870 are easier to patter. I shoot a 21" barrel so cant fully help with the 26

Did you say if you have the 660 or the 665 jellyhead?

I had that combo with the 665 and was getting in the 220's and was very pleased with it. Never tried the 660 with the mag blends.

My 870SM with 26" barrel with JH .660 got 223 in 10" cirlce at 40 with 3.5" Hevi 13 #6s.  Based on everything I have read, the Magnum blends don't produce as good of numbers as the straight 6s or 7s.  I'm hopefully going to try the 7s this weekend.

I can't speak for the 3.5" shells, but in my 870 the 665 with mag blends produced a much better pattern than 6s.  Still not what I wanted but it was definetly a dead bird at 40.  The 6s had about 25-30 less pellets and not near as even.

Thanks yall..i have some winchester high velocity 3.5 #6's also. i will be shooting both to pattern today.
