Hevi-13, Heavy Shot, Hevi-metal?

Is it just me, as it's very confusing reading some threads and understanding what load some are talking about?

Could just be me, as I'm only familiar with Hevi-shot 13 Turkey, but there are so many acronyms too?

And a thread will start of with Hevi-metal Turkey loads, then refer it to Hevi-shot? Very confusing as I understand Hevi-shot 13 turkey and Hevi metal turkey are 2 different loads. Plus all the other acronyms and slang names for loads like TSS, HTL, Heavy Weight, Heavy Shot, Hevi-13, Hevi Shot 13, Hevi metal, make it difficult to understand some threads?

There are those on here with more knowledge than me, but here is what I understand.

Hevi Shot is the original 12 g/cc non toxic shot
Hevi 13 is the new 13 g/cc non toxic shot by the same company.
Hevi Metal is another shell by that company that has half #6 Hevi Shot and Half #4 steel
Winchester Extended Range is similar to Hevi Shot but a little lighter
Federal Heavy Weight is 15 g/cc non toxic shot, draw back is they come in shells with the Flight Control wad
Tungsten Super Shot (TSS) is a 18 g/cc non toxic shot that you have to special order
ITX is another non toxic similar to Hevi Shot
Nitros are shells made by the Nitro Ammo Company and use the Original Hevi Shot
Nitro Mega Weights are Nitros attempt to match the Hevi 13 shells

Thanks for the definitions, that is helpful.

I also think some confusion sets in where reading a thread that someone mentions a load, then later in the thread refers to it as something else? Thanks

Are Win. Xtended range shells 12 or 13g/cc?

HW is federal, HTL is heavier than lead regardless of shell and whatever you do dont think of Nitros as being the ones on the shelf at Walmart by Remington. I seen a fella get all bent outta shape last year when he just couldnt get those numbers from his $8 box of shells. He thought the Nitros everyone was referring to were The Rem lead ones..That was a classic post   :icon_thumright:

I don't know that I get why shooting a steel shot/hevi blend is going to help my turkey patterns.
