I have a Rem 870 (3in)/ 21" bbl.  I have a Kicks .655 and a Hastings .665.  The Kicks is turning 234 in a 12in circle @ 40  Hevi 3/2/7's.  Im debating on whether or not to buy a Pure Gold .670 and see if there is any improvement. I have allot of Hevi 3/2/6's as well and ive heard the Pure Gold will sing with both.  Any opinions?

I shoot an 870 of the same barrel length.  It is a mid 90s model.  I patterned with a PG .670 and did not get good patterns with mine.  The owner had no problem refunding my money though.  I'm not sure if it was just a rare case, but I had much better luck with the Hevi13 .662 choke and JH .665 choke.

My numbers were comparable to the ones you posted already though.  I was getting around 200 in a 10" circle with the 2 chokes listed above.  When I went to the 3-2-6s, I would be in the 150-160 range.

I now use an IC choke and shoot TSS, so all my pattern problems are solved.  If you call IC, he has a plethora of different size and types of chokes for 870s... not knocking PG bc there customer service was great, but IC was equally as great.
People who don't get it, don't get that they don't get it.

What kind of numbers did you get with the Hastings. I have a buddy "loaning" me a Hastings to try out in my 870
If at first you don't succeed, shoot again.

I have heard great things about the PG .670 with an 870, but not in a 21"

The Hastings .665 I found would turn the best numbers with the Fed HW 7's. 200+ in a 10.

I have a 28" bbl as well. What kind of numbers have guys seen with the Pure Gold .670 and Rem 870 3".  Any reports on the PG .660?..im thinking that might be better with the 21" bbl

That shorter barrel will take you a bit more work to get the pattern you want. Try the 660 JH

John

Thanks John, question..i have tru choke threads in both of my barrels on my Rem 870's.  Think there is any chance that i may be able to get a Primos choke with those threads?  Im not sure exactly who makes their chokes.

Did you special order the Kicks?

I think i just ordered it off of their website. I saw on the Pure Gold website they are offering a .670 thats tru choke compatible.
