Thanks, thats kinda the conclusion I was coming to about the mag blends.. Even after using the hevi-7's last year I really feel better switching to the over kill of 6's. im not looking to get 300+ in 10" @ 40 or have a 65yd gun.

My goal is an even 100 in 10" @ 50yds with 6's and never shoot over that plenty of knock down power in that range. Is that an attainable goal for the 6's

I want to buy 6 boxes tonight from Macks

what the take on the comparision between #6's and Mag blends

they seem to get similar 10" numbers

the blends have some 5's and 7's to go along with the 6's but at a high velocity (why is that? same 2oz of shot)

does one do better in the energy/penetration than  the other
I have no idea why EM loads the MBs to 1200 fps vs 1090 for their straight 6s or 7s. And yes, a HS 7 launched at 1200 fps will outpenetrate a HS 7 launched at 1090 fps. But a 7 launched at 1200 fps will not outpenetrate a 6 at 1090. Nor will a 6 @ 1200 outpenetrate a 5 @ 1090.

IMO, if you believe that 7s have sufficient energy/penetration to kill turkeys at your given max range, you should shoot straight 7s. If you feel that 6s are req'd to get the job done, you should shoot straight 6s. In neither case would I count on the 5s in MBs to increase your range because of their greater penetration. There will not be enough of them on target at extended range to be of much benefit. I see no reason to shoot HS 5s at turkeys unless your gun will truly put more of them in a 10" circle than it will 6s or 7s, which I strongly doubt is the case.

I am not bashing MBs or those that use them. They will certainly kill turkeys and pattern very well. But if I had to choose between 200/10 with MBs or 200/10 with straight 6s, I would choose the 6s every time. MBs in my mind are a marketing ploy to lure hunters who are longtime 5 users that just cannot wrap their mind around the fact that HS 6s and 7s will kill turkeys and want to hedge their bets.
