I just looked on Pure Golds website and saw they have a choke specifically made for Federal flight control wads. I bought some number 7s 1.5oz heavyweight for my Weatherby SA-08 and didn't know if anyone has tried the PG tempest choke with the #7s out of their 20 ga? If so what constriction is best?

Comes in .555 or .570 constriction. Any input would be great.

I have always got the best results in a 20ga with a .570 choke, but I have never really tried the .555 much
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

I think the general theory is that a shorter barrel will like the .555 and a longer barrel will like the .570...but I'm also told that if it does not pattern well for you that PG will swap it out for the other choke...can't really go wrong there...I'll be getting a PG .555 for my sons 21" barrel in the next few weeks so we can start pattern testing...

I've shot a couple 20 ga 870's in long and short barrels. The tempest in .555 shot better patterns in short barrel guns and as mentioned .570 was better in 26" I shoot the tempest .555 and Heavyweight 7's in a short 20. I average @160 in a 10" at 40 which is plenty for hunting.

We had similiar results with the .555 and .570 in short and long barrels on the 870 youth receiver in 20 ga.

Good Luck
